In case you didn't know already, today is my one year blogiversary! I have been blogging for one whole year! My first post was A Place That I Can Go To, which is the exact reason why I started this blog in the first place. Starting a blog for me was to escape all the bad things and to be myself.
When I started my blog, I only told my three of my friends and my boyfriend about it. After a few posts I decided to take a jump and tell my family about it. There were so many misconceptions about me blogging and also my family were a bit mean about me blogging at first. "A place you can go to? There's nothing wrong with you!","Anyone can find you online! Don't put anything personal online, there are some nasty people out there!" - right, but I knew all this. I also knew that telling my family wasn't going to go down well, but I wanted them to read it so they could understand me and who I am, not what they wanted me to be in their minds. And a year later, I have a better relationship with those who were mean about or didn't quite understand blogging from the start and I have less of a relationship with those who never decided to support me, even though I would them.
Blogging has taught me a lot. It doesn't matter what people think of you, you are you and you be you even if people don't like you. That was a lot of you's, sorry! It pays off to be yourself, instead of pretending you're someone your not. I mean, you wouldn't stop eating something you love, *cough* chocolate *cough*, just because someone else didn't like it? So why stop being yourself! Blogging has also taught me how to write better. After all, I have to write things correctly because let's face it - all of us are grammar freaks! Last but certainly not least, blogging has taught me that everyone is different. There is so much you can blog about these days, but us bloggers, we're all the same! We get each other, we support each other but at the same time we are all completely different - and the best thing is, we accept each other.
During my year of blogging, I changed my blogs name three times. Starting off with A Place I Can Go To, to Beauty Affair, to Whitney Loren Beauty and now it's just Whitney Loren! It's funny, because a year ago, like I said, this blog was to escape. Now, I'm blogging about lots of things, mainly beauty, but I like variety. I also never expected anyone really to read my blog, but I have made so many friends from it. I think readers who have read my blog from the start or later on, they will probably say my writing has changed since a year ago, and more importantly me! In fact, I know I have! I have also been to a blogger event, which I didn't think I would do as I'm such an awkward and shy person if you don't know me. But in all fairness, it was great! I also turned 18 in January and passed my test in February and now I own my own car!
Blogging has really changed my life. I'm a better person for it. I can't thank you, my readers, enough for the support you have given me. Whether you have read every post, some or even one (saying that, they wouldn't be reading this for me to thank haha!), or whether you follow me on any of my social media, or given me a like, retweet or even just accidentally clicked on my blog, just thank you. I am also thankful to those who supported me from the start, like my friends and my boyfriend - even my family in the end! Also to Tiffany who urged me to start a blog and so we decided to start our blogs at the same time. Tiffany supported me throughout this whole year and more - even when my blog was really ugly. I couldn't have done it without her.
A year on, I'm still blogging. I reached 10,000 pageviews today, which is a great way to kick off a fresh new year of blogging. I also have made six wonderful friends (okay, excluding Tiffany), as at the start of this year I wanted to start a blog with six other girls so there could be a post every day. We are Through Our Eyes. Myself, Tiffany, Nicole, Jemima, Sara, Katie and Sophie. I'm sure you all know and love them and well, if you don't you need to visit all of their blogs after reading this post, or you can read all of us on one blog!
So, thank you! Thank you for reading, thank you for your support.
